ASD-N held two successful STEMFests events this past March. The first was at Terry Fox Elementary, in Bathurst, on the 17th and the second at James M. Hill, in Miramichi, on the 24th. Many students, teachers and parents attended each event, including the Minister of Education, the Honourable Brian Kenny, who attended and distributed medals at the Bathurst event. Combined, 223 students brought 128 projects to STEMFest that had 27 volunteer judges view their projects. We are thankful to our judges and their employer as they represented EECD, CCBN, NBCC, Glencore, UNB, GNB and Bathurst High School. Judges at both fairs had many positive comments about the quality of work presented by students in all three categories of experiments, innovations, and case studies. Awarded at each STEMFest were bronze, silver and gold medals. The list of winners are available through the links below. Medal winners in grades 6 – 12 qualified for the provincial competition, April 11th.

When judges were not interviewing students, the students worked in groups with one of 25 teacher volunteers to create a cardboard arcade game. Students were challenged to incorporate simple machines into their creations. Similar to STEMFest 2017, students displayed excellence in their learning and ingenuity. Images galleries of projects and builds from both STEMFests are below.
