Similar figures have the same shape, but are not typically the same size. Students will use photographs and indirect measurement to determine how tall objects are around their school, home, or town. Students will need (or be introduced to) knowledge of ratios, proportions, similar figures, and indirect measurement.

Have students use all of the Geometry Basics they have learned to create a logo of their name! Students use their creativity and show you their understanding of the basic geometry terms, as well as how to measure angles. There is a basic example provided to show what students should be doing but students should get a lot more creative! You can choose to erase the example and change the name of the company - it's a Word document.

For this project, students will select a used artifact and remodel, reupholster, redesign, & recycle. The goal is to take something old or irrelevant and make it new and useful (or even more so). Students may choose any artifact to redesign. This project requires students to employ various skills including, but not limited to, research, mathematics, writing, visual art, 3D art, and design.

Looking for a quick but flexible building activity? This Stranded on Mars activity is open-ended and uses easy to find materials. It works well for a team-building activity or can be expanded to integrate mathematics, science, and engineering.

This is the perfect activity or project for your students to show off their creativity while finding the slope between two points and writing equations in slope-intercept form from one point and the slope. This can be assigned as a take-home project, an activity during class, or used during math centers. Student handouts with instructions (PDF and .doc), graph paper (two options) and a rubric are provided, along with examples of my own students' outstanding projects. This activity/project can be modified to fit your specific classroom needs - it's editable!
