Breaking New Ground at GG

Posted: June 16, 2015

A sod turning ceremony was held June 15th at Gretna Green Elementary School, Miramichi to mark upgrades and renovations to the school that are to begin this summer. The almost $10 000 000 project to add teaching stations, a new gym, administrative areas and other improvements will span 3 years to minimize disruptions to the school’s operation. Students from the school attended the event held under sunny skies on the front lawn and showed considerable excitement realizing that many of them will continue at the school beyond grade 5 as the renovations will result in a Kindergarten to Grade 8 facility.        Special guests included: Lisa Harris, MLA for Miramichi Bay-Neguac; Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, the Honourable Bill Fraser; Miramichi City Mayor, Gerry Cormier and Chair, ASD-N D.E.C., Michael Mortlock.
