Harcourt School Students Go for a Ski

Posted: March 14, 2011

Many school students of District 16 have been enjoying the trails of the Miramichi Cross Country Ski Club this winter under the direction of their teachers and volunteer members of the club. Although most of the young skiers have been from local elementary schools, middle school and high school students have also had an enjoyable introduction to the life-time recreational activity that is considered to be one of the best forms of cardiovascular exercise. The visits, usually lasting about 2 hours, give the students the opportunity to learn to ski on groomed trails and most are pleasantly surprised to find out how easy it is to do and how much fun it can be. The winter time is usually a difficult time to be outdoors and be active for a prolonged period of time but cross country skiing can be a convenient and easy way to do this.  The equipment used is provided by means of a partnership between the club, local schools, the New Brunswick Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport and Sport Canada. Shown here are students from Harcourt School who recently paid a visit to the club.
