On Sept 8, high schools in District 16 implemented the Boomerang Project for the second consecutive year. The program helps with the transition of grade 9 students to the high school program. This year the WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) program was implemented to assist grade 6 students entering middle school. Seven schools in District 16 participated in these two programs, the aim of which is to help new students succeed by focusing on peer mentorship and leadership. It is the intention that students will help students succeed by creating a warm and welcoming environment to the new school setting and that the support will continue throughout the year. By all accounts from the schools involved, the grade 6 and grade 9 students are off to a very good start.
