We are very pleased to announce our 5th Annual ASD-N Take Me Outside Day Challenge to be held October 17-21, 2022. Anglophone North School District teachers and administrators are encouraged to take students outdoors for a lesson or activity consisting of a minimum of 30 minutes. This can be a class from any subject area and does not have to be Phys Ed. This can be done any day between October 17th and 21st, or as often as possible during the week.
In the past four years, we have been overwhelmed by the support shown for this initiative from K-12 classes across ASD-N. Last year we had over 30 schools registered, including First Nation schools and Alternative Education sites, with hundreds of photos and videos submitted and/or posted online. We will once again be offering a chance to win great prizes for those who participate.
This year Take Me Outside Canada is once again hosting a full week of speakers, activities and events to engage students in throughout October 17-21. Themes include deepening connections with Indigenous perspectives, strengthening health and well-being with outdoor learning, and increasing knowledge on climate change and the environment. With three different themes to focus on, this will be an educational and engaging week for students of all ages!
Thank you to Subject Coordinator Joey Savoy for sharing the above details, and for leading this important initiative in ASD-N.
