Discover 2018: Journey Into Innovation Proves to be an Overwhelming Success

Posted: May 31, 2018

Discover 2018 promised to be an exciting event featuring an interactive showcase of innovative teaching & learning currently taking place throughout Anglophone North School District and it certainly did not disappoint. Hundreds of students, teachers, administrators and parents, from Campbellton to Rexton, participated in this fun-filled and very engaging day.

Whether it was Builder Boulevard, Planet Parkway, Fantasy Freeway or the Fitness Fun Zone, there was definitely something for everyone. Student Learning Leaders and Teacher Facilitators took attendees on an inspirational journey of innovation. Max Aitken Academy, the event venue, was transformed into an incredible learning playground for students, educators, and families, with over 50 activity stations that offered a wide variety of activities for all, from literacy to music, robotics, sports, science, gardening, math, coding, aquaponics and so much more!

Discover 2018 also hosted a Student Marketplace where young entrepreneurs had the opportunity to sell their unique and original creations with over 20 vendors on hand, many of whom sold out of their products throughout the day.

The Main Stage featured a wealth of amazing student talent with incredible musical performances from K-12 students taking place all day long, as well as being a highlight of the Opening ceremonies.

To quote ASD-N Superintendent Mr. Mark Donovan, “During my 32 year career I have participated in many showcases of learning, however, this was the most incredible display of teaching and learning that I’ve ever seen. Some of the things that are happening in your classrooms are simply world class!”
