Posted: May 5, 2022

Today, May 5th, is National Day of Awareness for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women. It is also known as Red Dress Day, the red dresses a symbol for those missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, and for raising awareness of the disproportionate rates of violence against Indigenous women and girls in Canada.

This day honours the dear grandmothers, mothers, sisters and daughters who have gone missing or have been murdered.  Their lives taken, these women were unable to fulfill their important roles within their communities, leaving unimaginable loss and suffering.

It is up to all who remain to raise their voices to end this epidemic.
