2020 Share2Care School Mental Health Grant Recipients Announced

PHE Canada providing $14,000 in total funding for seven schools across Canada

Physical and Health Education Canada (PHE Canada) received 199 applications for mental health support and is providing $14,000 in support to further advance the promising practices within five of those school communities.

Mental health is on the minds of many Canadians. According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, it is estimated that 10% to 20% of Canadian youth are affected by a mental illness or disorder. A child’s family, school, and their day-to-day environment can affect their health and educational outcomes. PHE Canada launched the Share2Care campaign, aiming to recognize and share unique, innovative, and promising mental health practices that are making positive impacts on students, school staff, and the entire school community.

With our Supporting Partner, The Co-operators, seven initiatives were selected to receive $2,000 to initiate or further advance their mental health initiatives. The 2020 Share2Care grant recipients are:

Wellington Catholic District School Board - Guelph, ON

Gordon Bell High School - Winnipeg, MB

Dr. KA Clark School - Fort McMurray, AB

Leaf Rapids Education Center - Leaf Rapids, MB

Beach Cove Elementary - Portugal Cove, NL

Whitehorse Individual Learning Center - Whitehorse, YT

Miramichi Valley High School - Miramichi, NB

From December 14th to January 15th, each school will be hosting school celebrations. PHE Canada will be sharing these success stories nationally across our website and social media channels.
