Bonar Law Memorial High School and Eleanor W. Graham Middle School, both in Rexton, received a generous presentation from the Brewer Foundation on Tuesday morning at BLMS.  Cheques were presented to each school in the amount of $15 000 to help each fund their vision for ending student hunger within their school.

The student population for grades 6-12 in Rexton is approximately 400, and it is estimated that 35% are going with very little or nothing.
EWG Principal Greg Theriault sees the generous donation from the Brewer Foundation as being a game changer for his school.  "It will serve the needs of our school community on many levels; from helping to provide food to those students who might otherwise go without, to allowing students to acquire valuable culinary skills that they can carry with them into adulthood.  From a pedagogical standpoint, it will also provide opportunities for personalization of instruction for those students passionate about cooking, and help to build a sense of accomplishment, self-reliance and a community spirit among the student body."

This donation was a result of much work coordinated by the schools, the community school coordinator, champions within the teaching staff, and local partners such as the Lions Club and Co-Op.
The Brewer Foundation's vision is for every school aged child in New Brunswick to attend school well-nourished and ready to learn.
