The Eighth Annual Creative Use of Technology in Education (CUTE) Awards ceremony was held at James M. Hill High School on Thursday April 9th. Prior to the ceremony itself, the well-attended event featured a “21st Century Learning Showcase” in the JMH Learning Commons. Many of the CUTE Awards nominees displayed exhibits of their entries giving other students and the general public a chance to become familiar with their projects. The two hour awards gala followed, with each of the nominations for the 12 award categories being introduced and the respective award recipients announced, and invited on stage for the presentation. The awards list is attached below. Included in the program was Jack Wilson of Saint Andrew’s School who sang “New York, New York” and Lauren Tulloch from Bathurst High recited Slam Poetry. Both performances were very well received. Throughout the evening 10 videos with the theme “What’s Cool About My School”, were shown having been submitted by various ASD-N Schools. Several schools went home with significant technology prizes, essentially won through a random draw. North and South Esk Regional High School received an iPad-Mini Videography Kit courtesy of the Miramichi Kinsmens’ Club. Campbellton Middle School won an Oculus Rift 3D Virtual Headset, provided by Brilliant Labs. Saint Andrews Elementary School and Bonar Law Memorial School won 3D Printers provided also by Brilliant Labs. To see photos of this year’s recipients visit 2015 CUTE Awards.
