With the support of the Parents School Support Committee, Terry Fox Elementary School (TFES) in Bathurst has created an Artist-in-Residence program for school year 2015-2016. The program, announced at a school assembly marking  World Art Day on Wednesday April 15th by PSSC Chair Mr. Jason Jessop, was  received with great excitement.  The artist for the coming school year, Hatem  Aly , a Egyptian born Bathurst resident, was introduced and he put on a display of his talent drawing a series of cartoons based on suggestions from the enthusiastic members of the audience. Following the assembly the artist spoke with several of the students and art books that were on display were distributed to all the classrooms.  To see photos from the event visit  TFES Artist-in-Residence.  Mr. Aly’s work has been featured on TV and in children's books, one of which was shortlisted for the Etisalat Award for the Best Children’s Book in 2013.
