Six Anglophone North School District
educators have been recognized recently by the New Brunswick Association for
Community Living (NBACL). At a ceremony hosted by
the Honourable Jocelyne Roy-Vienneau, Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick and
the patron of NBACL, Lorena Joseph, Lorraine Whalen and Julia Murray, Educational Assistants at
Harcourt School, were presented with National Inclusive Education Awards. The
NBACL press release following the ceremony stated,
“From the Harcourt School,
three educational assistants, Lorena Joseph, Lorraine Whalen and Julia Murray, whose team
approach to inclusion is grounded not only in their dedication and love for the
children they work with, but also in their professionalism and their continuous
pursuit of education and support from other practitioners in the field.”
In addition, New Brunswick school district Inclusion Facilitators were
recognized at the ceremony with a National Recognition Certificate. This included
two ASD-N facilitators, Cynthia MacInnis and Janet Cooper, who have supported
schools and teachers in building capacity for inclusive practices over the last
two years in the district.
