ASD-N Schools Mark Family Literacy Day

Over the past few weeks a number of ASD-N schools have celebrated Family Literacy Day with special events. The importance of hard copy books and personal interest in reading were emphasized. Here are some examples. On Tuesday, February 10th, Harkins Middle School hosted their first annual Family Literacy Night.  Students, Staff and their families enjoyed milk and cookies while listening to stories, student book talks and a reader's theatre.  Lots of books were given out as prizes and a great time was had by all school staff report. The theme was life on the farm and living in the country. With everyone dressed for this theme and with readings, skits, dance and song, the importance of books and the importance of reading was evident.
