ASD-N Students Present Their Past

Posted: May 2, 2013

The Regional Heritage Fair Showcase for Anglophone North School District, held May 1, 2013, provided a wonderful insight into the work of many young historians from all parts of the district. Many observers commented on the fine quality of the research and presentations displayed. Held in the cavernous gymnasium of Superior Middle School in Bathurst, the showcase was one of eleven being held throughout the province.  A panel of judges toured the 64 poster presentations and interviewed the presenters about their work. The very difficult task of deciding two overall winners took considerable time. In the end Avery Watt of Nelson Rural School and Crystal Roy-Mackenzie of Superior Middle School were selected to represent ASD-N at the Provincial Showcase in Shippagan, NB, June 21st to 23rd, 2013. Avery’s project was titled “Proud to be a Country Boy” and detailed life on his family’s farm in Barnaby River. Crystal’s project called “Stolen Children”, explored life in Canada’s residential schools for  First Nation, Inuit and Metis children.     Additional projects were singled out to receive awards in eleven categories. Attached below is a list of these projects and awards. Visit  ASD-N Heritage Fair 2013 for photos of these presentations and respective projects as well as other pictures from  the showcase.
