Canada NB hosted the annual Provincial
Trades Skills competitions in Miramichi on Saturday April 12. Eighty-six
students from 26 New Brunswick High Schools competed in 11 events held at
Miramichi Valley High School and James M. Hill High. The winners in each
category will represent New Brunswick in the Skills
Canada National Competitions in Toronto June 4th to 7th. Congratulations to the
ASD-N students who earned a total of 6 medals: 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze. In
Carpentry, Michael Morrison of Miramichi
Valley High School (MVHS) won gold. In Automotive Service Pierce Boudreau of
Sugarloaf Senior High School won gold.
In Cabinetmaking Alex Thompson of James M. Hill High School won bronze.
In Fashion Technology Jessica White (MVHS) won silver and Haylie MacDonald
(MVHS) won bronze. In Cooking Julia Augustine (MVHS) won silver. The event was very successful with strong
competitions in all categories and careful
judging by experts in the various fields. Organizers expressed sincere
appreciation to the many volunteers and community sponsors that made the day possible.
