Celebrate the Spirit Award

Posted: May 14, 2014

Anglophone North School District recently recognized community support for education with the Celebrate the Spirit Award.  This award, first started in the former School District 15, selects one or more individuals from the community to be recognized and honoured for their contribution to education. Recipients, who by virtue of their mere presence in our schools, enhance the positive and enthusiastic culture that makes Anglophone North School District a great place in which to educate children.  The first Celebrate the Spirit Award was presented posthumously to the late Elizabeth Lord, a much loved music teacher who lost her life in a tragic highway accident.  The award, a beautiful glass sculpture, is synonymous with energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the goals of our educational community.  The four recipients this year were nominated by their school communities. They are: Rexton – David Gaudet, Miramichi – Rotary Club of Chatham, Bathurst – Jodie Lavigne and Campbellton/Dalhousie – Ladies’ Diamond Dinner Club. The citations read at the awards ceremony at the Gowan Brae Golf and Country Club in Bathurston May 7th are attached below. To see photos of the recipients visit AWARDS.
