Child and Youth Advocate Visits District 16

James M. Hill Memorial High School was the location for Mr. Bernard Richard, New Brunswick’s ombudsman and child and youth advocate, to deliver his third annual State of our Children and Youth address on Thursday November 25th.  The presentation to an audience that included students from James M. High, Miramichi Valley High and École Carrefour Beausoleil, was preceded by various student workshops and a First Nation dancing demonstration by the Esgenoopeitj Dancers. The annual report from the Office of the Ombudsman and Child and Youth Advocate titled  The Right to Identity, Culture and Language: A Child's Path to Development  was also released. Other New Brunswick students attending Dalhousie Regional High School, Cité des Jeunes A.-M.-Sormany, Tobique Valley High School, Bonar Law Memorial High School and North and South Esk Regional High School were able to view the presentation live via the internet.
