In recent weeks fourteen of District 16's twenty-three schools have launched new school websites using software that enables school staff to conveniently keep their school's community informed without having to become highly trained web masters. News, coming events, notices to parents, published student work and much more can be shared not just within the school but with the wider community. In turn, school news stories are fed to the District 16 web site home page and student and teacher electronic publications that are uploaded to the District 16 media server are also linked to the respective school's web site. Opportunities for sharing and collaboration are enhanced and students learn valuable lessons in responsible publishing in this era of electronic social networking. It is the intention that the remaining district schools that do not yet have the enhanced web sites will do so in the coming weeks. To see the potential of these sites visit the web sites two schools which have had a head start and have been able to use them since the beginning of the current school yearhttp://gretnagreen.nbed.nb.ca/ and http://ianbaillie.nbed.nb.ca/
