Posted: April 9, 2015

Students at Harkins Middle School, Miramichi, were treated to a play performed by a cast of professional Theatre New Brunswick Young Company First Nation actors called “The Eighth Fire”, on Wednesday April 8th. Joining them in the school’s gymnasium to watch the presentation was New Brunswick’s Lieutenant Governor the Honourable  Jocelyne Roy-Vienneau and her husband, His Honour, Mr. Ronald Vienneau. The play dealt with the conflict experienced by many First Nation youth between their modern lifestyles and their traditional culture. The performance was well received by the audience who, following the play, were able to present questions to cast members as well as the Lieutenant Governor.
