Eleanor W. Graham Middle School of Rexton is off to a tremendous start towards creating a multi-sensory room for its Methods and Resource teachers for their work with students with special educational needs. The Cartier Co-op, located in Richiboucto, has donated $5 000, a big first step in the school’s efforts to raise the $14 000 needed. The creation of such a room will go a long way towards meeting the special needs of children, such as  those with autism, in the wider Rexton, Richibouto and Elsipogtog area.  EWG Community School Co-coordinator Cheryl Warman states, that for certain students with special needs,  “there are countless anecdotal reports of improved mood, fewer disruptive behaviours, decreased anxiety and fear, improved communication and enhanced interpersonal interactions when access to a multi-sensory room is available.” Please contact Cheryl at cheryl.warman@nbed.nb.ca for further information.
