FN Heritage at BLMS

Bonar Law Memorial School’s Heritage Fair 2013 was celebrated December 4th and First Nation students had an opportunity to research and present various aspects of their culture. Areauna Solomon placed first for local interest with her project on the Jingle Dancers. Chayden Milliea and Tate Sock were chosen among their peers for the People's Choice Award. BLMS First Nation transition-to-school worker Robyn Barlow along with her husband organized volunteers to sing the Honor Song and Freda Levi's Native Studies group wrote and produced writings in the Micmac language that were displayed in the lobby. Kevin Augustine along with two students from the Elsipogtog School displayed their carvings and traditional cuisine was provided by First Nation liason committee members, Rosa Barlow, Sharon Sock and Katie Joseph.
