Posted: March 14, 2013

In February SMART Technologies announced the recognition of three Canadian schools with Showcase Classrooms that demonstrate “thought leadership” in education and a commitment to explore innovative learning models. Gretna Green Elementary School in Miramichi was one of those so recognized and will receive from the Calgary based company four SMART Board 800i interactive whiteboard systems, four SMART Document Cameras, SMART Response interactive response systems, SMART Audio classroom amplification system, and SMART Sync software. SMART Technologies states, “In these collaborative learning spaces, students work together with their peers and teachers to solve problems, making use of multi-user, multitouch, collaborative workspaces. Each classroom is designed to meet the specific and individual needs of the teacher, students, their grade level and curricular focus. Every room is different, but each SMART Collaborative Classroom features multiple interactive displays, complementary hardware and software – all tied together with SMART Notebook collaborative learning software.” Riverview High School in Riverview New Brunswick and Bench Elementary, Cowichan, British Columbia are the other two Canadian schools being recognized.
