An Invitation for ACTION to D16 Schools

Posted: September 13, 2011

The Miramichi Wellness Network launched the 2011-2012 wellness marketing campaign, Join the Wellness Movement at the High Elements Challenge Course at MVHS on Monday, September 12, 2011.  Miramichi In Motion community champion, Dr. Mike Dickinson dropped the first beach ball into the 7 foot high Ball Unit suspended up-side down from High Elements course. Many local dignitaries and community partners were on hand for the launch and to encourage Dr. Dickinson. “The goal is to highlight all the good things that are happening about wellness in New Brunswick, and to encourage more New Brunswickers to make positive changes,” says Wellness, Culture and Sport Minister Trevor Holder. The campaign, which will run until the end of February 2012, encourages schools as well as other organizations, communities, and workplaces to join the wellness movement by registering and completing an online wellness commitment. Regional rallies celebrating Join the Wellness Movement will be held during the week of October 1st to 7th.  Local commitments will be visibly represented by beach balls added to The Ball Unit that is presently located at the Golden Hawk Recreation Center in Miramichi.  Schools as well as groups, organizations, communities, and workplaces may make a wellness commitment by registering their activity online at www.wellnessnb.ca. They will have a chance to win grants of $500 to $1000 to help them organize on-going wellness initiatives. Prizes will also be awarded to individuals. Let’s Join the Wellness Movement,  the ball is in your court.
