School District 16 held its second elementary school cross country meet of the season on Wednesday Sept. 21 at Gretna Green School. The well attended event saw hundreds of runners from grades 3 to 5 compete over a grassy one kilometer course. The weather could not have been more favourable.  Leadership from District 16 educators with very keen support from parents seemed very much appreciated by the enthusiastic young participants. There are three more meets to be held on successive Wednesdays at Blackville School, Saint Andrew’s School and French Fort Cove, all starting at 4:00 pm. As well meets for middle school students will be held at Dr. Losier Middle School (Sept 26), Miramichi Rural School (October 3) and French Fort Cove (October 17).
