LBS Human Link Teaches Many Lessons

Posted: December 3, 2012

Citizenship is a character trait that was well demonstrated on November 29th in Campbellton as students and staff from a number of local schools participated in the Lord Beaverbrook School Human Link, an activity that includes a food drive to support the local food bank, as well as an awareness campaign regarding November being Family Violence Prevention Month.       Over 300 people came to join the Human Link, which stretched along the sidewalks, starting from Lord Beaverbrook School and reaching all the way to the local food bank, located at the Restigouche County Volunteer Action Association (RCVAA) office. The passing of the bags of food from one person to another along the link symbolized that together as a community we can make a positive change.       Nancy Boucher, the Superintendent for the Anglophone North School District, participated in the event and said, “This is such a great way for our students to learn by doing as they can experience for themselves the benefits of being a responsible and caring citizen in their community".     Over 400 pounds of food were delivered to the RCVAA, which represents a donation of more than $800 worth for those community members who are in need.       Many of the students’ parents and grandparents, as well as community members and students from the Sugarloaf Senior High School Link Crew participated in the activity and were a great support. The community partners were Provigo, Atlantic Superstore and radio station CKNB, all playing an important role in making this activity a success. For photos visit The Human Link Project .
