Five grade 5 girls recently completed the ASD-N Self Esteem Program at Harkins Elementary School and were recognized for their participation in a celebration held in the school’s library on November 12th. Arranged by ASD-N’s Community Schools Co-ordinator Rachel Tsistinas, and Leaders Lisa Matchett and Beth Clancy, the girls explored topics important to young adolescents such as the importance of “self”, communicating with others in a sensitive manner, issues surrounding body image, and nutrition, and the importance of family and friends.  The program is available to schools in the district that are interested in offering it to girls in grade 5 or higher.
