The students of Croft Elementary School joined a
number of dignitaries to officially “turn the sod”, to begin construction of the
new K to 8 school in Miramichi West. All of the students present will be
attending the school scheduled to open in the fall of 2017and there was a
considerable excitement on display. The kindergarten students, anxious for the
completion of the new facility, even showed up willing to lend a hand, hard
hats and all! The crowd on hand heard comments regarding the significance of
the project and what it will mean for the future of Miramichi from the dignitaries
in attendance. They were: Beth Stymiest, Superintendent of Anglophone North
School District (ANSD); City of Miramichi Mayor Gerry Cormier; MLA for Miramichi
Bay-Neguac, Lisa Harris; Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, the Honourable
Bill Fraser and ANSD Chairperson, Michael Mortlock. To view photos of the event
