Literacy - Recovering Grade One Readers

Posted: June 28, 2010

Five District 16 teachers completed a year long training and received their Reading Recovery® certificates this June.  Reading Recovery® is an effective early literacy intervention designed to reduce the number of children with reading and writing difficulties. It is delivered by a specially trained Reading Recovery® teacher to students in their grade one year.  Many district 16 students will now benefit from the expertise of the following teachers (from left to right):  Dianne Buggie (St. Andrews Elementary), Jennifer MacDonald (Tabusintac School), Twila Sturgeon (Blackville School), Ginny Richard (Rexton Elementary) and Barb Brown (Ian Baillie Primary).
