A dinner was held recently to welcome 35 International Students to NB School District 16 at the Rodd Miramichi River Hotel. Representatives from various agencies and supporting governing bodies were on hand to offer a warm welcome to the secondary school students from Germany, Slovakia, Mexico, Colombia, Korea and China. Ms Tilly O’Neil-Gordon, MP for Miramichi, The Honourable John Foran, Minister for Public Safety and NB Solicitor General and MLA for Miramichi Center, and municipal representatives of the city of Miramichi, the village of Rexton and village of Blackville were on hand and offered their warm greetings and words of support to the visitors. DEC Chairwoman Patricia Lee expressed words of welcome and encouragement from School District 16. The Miramichi Region Multicultural Association’s Michael Mersereau invited the students to participate in some upcoming MRMA events and Thomas Linkletter of the Miramichi Chamber of Commerce gave his organization’s offer of support and words of welcome.
