Posted: November 12, 2014

Miramichi Valley High School history teacher Brandon Savage spoke at the Remembrance Day Ceremony held at the Civic Centre, Newcastle-Miramichi, on November 11th. In his address to the more than 2000 in attendance he emphasized the importance of remembering and the need to ensure that young people today understand. Noting that this year marks theĀ 100th anniversary of the outbreak of WWI, he expressed confidence that in another 100 years the act of remembrance will be as significant then as now. Mr. Savage recounted a trip he made one year ago to Canadian war graves in Holland accompanied by students from MVHS, James M. Hill H.S. and Bathurst High. They were there to commemorate the lives of individual soldiers at their grave sites along with local Dutch students from St. Canisius School who participated in the collaborative project.
