Sharing Their Writing Skills

Posted: November 22, 2013

Writing, one of the original “Three R’s”, was on the minds of many at Gretna Green Elementary School in Miramichi on Thursday morning November 21st. Nineteen Miramichi Valley High School students became teachers of English at various elementary grade levels and delivered lessons in creative writing. The project, developed by MVHS teacher Mrs. Krista Cabel, with the support of staff at Gretna Green, was designed to help her high school Writing 110 students develop their own creative writing techniques and at the same time share them with other young minds.  The opportunity gave the older students a chance also to explore the idea of becoming school teachers  as many will soon be graduating and making their career choices. The visitors appeared to be well received with the elementary school students responding to the lessons enthusiastically. For photos visit “A Taste of Teaching”.
