SSHS Student Introduced to Gene Research

Posted: February 6, 2014

Akarsh Pai, a Grade 12 student and the vice-president of the Student Council at Sugarloaf Senior High, has been chosen by the Canadian Gene Cure Foundation (CGCF) to participate in their “Gene Researcher for a Week” program. This national program runs annually during or near the March Break. Forty to fifty students from across Canada, interested in the genetics field, are selected from a pool of hundreds of applicants recommended by their school to spend a week in a genetics laboratory paired with a senior researcher. Akarsh will be attending an Atlantic university next month to participate in this coveted program. This is a great first step in his pathway to a science career.
