Sugarloaf Senior High School hosted RCMP Police Week on May 14th and 15th. Police Week began in Canada in 1970 as a way to connect with communities and increase awareness about the services that police provide. Sugarloaf was extremely lucky to be selected as a host to the RCMP Helicopter on May 14th. This helicopter serves the 4 Atlantic Provinces and the students and staff were applauding as the pilots had a meet and greet with the students and staff. On Thursday, May 15th, the RCMP Cruiser, the RCMP Narcotics Dog and the RCMP Surveillance Boat were on hand for students to see and ask questions about their use. One staff member said "I was so proud to see so many students interested and welcoming the RCMP to our school, it was a nice moment to see the connection between our students and the RCMP".
