Grade 6 students in Mrs. T. Malley’s class at Harkins Middle School have been collaborating with other classes in an international project called Dark Skies. The students collected data on the quality of “darkness” in the night sky from various locations around the Miramichi region. On April 28 they shared their findings with several classes in the United States and Romania via a video conference, while sitting at their own desks! The project, itself a tremendous learning opportunity, is part of an international effort to develop awareness of the impact of light pollution and its effects on life on earth.
