Ever dream of having your own personal library? On Tuesday January 28th, students at Lord Beaverbrook School (LBS) in Campbellton participated in the “Love of Reading” program for the fifth consecutive year. This literacy program is an ongoing project that provides students at LBS with a total of four books to take home over the school year. Students, with the help of visiting Rotarians, get to choose a book from a variety of books appropriate for their grade or reading level. The Love of Reading program is sponsored by the Campbellton Rotary Club and students get to keep the books to build their very own library. Rotary Club President, Jocelyn Paquette believes, “No price can be set on stirring a child's imagination. The Love of Reading program does this one book at a time and one child at a time. The Campbellton Rotary Club is honored to sponsor this excellent program." This community based program hopes to inspire students to become lifelong readers, Principle, Lori Henderson is very pleased with the initiative, “Our goal was to ensure that all students left our school with their own personal collection/library they could call their own. After five years with the program, this group of grade 4 students will have met the goal. I believe it has touched the lives of many of our students since our students have limited access to purchase books. Through collaboration with the Rotary Club and the library more students have had access than ever before.” Lord Beaverbrook School would like to thank their community-education partner, the Campbellton Rotary Club for their ongoing support of the Love of Reading program.
