The Miramichi Regional Heritage Fair was held at Nelson Rural School in Miramichi on Friday April 24th. Forty-seven exhibits were presented by students from Dr. Losier Middle School, Harkins Middle School, Eleanor Graham Middle School, Natoaganeg School (Eel Ground) and host Nelson Rural School. The Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick, Mme Jocelyne Roy Vienneau, was the guest of honour and she addressed the students warmly during the opening ceremonies. After very careful consideration by the team of judges awards were presented in 15 categories. The Provincial Showcase Award for the project titled “R.C.A.F. Double Crashes June 1942, The Story of Sgt. Earl Gay” went to Pàdruig MacDonald, Brandon Murphy and Hiew Mersereau of Nelson Rural School. They will be representing the region at the Provincial Showcase in June in Fredericton. The list of award recipients is attached below.
