District 15 and 16 are hosting seven Dutch teachers visiting from October 22 to 28. The teachers, from Arnhem and Groenlo have, been collaborating closely with District 16 teachers for the past six years. With the help of a grant from the European Education Commission they are visiting to learn more about how our districts are using Social Media in education. Four of the Dutch teachers will visit schools in District 16 Monday and Tuesday, while their three colleagues visit District 15. The Dutch teachers will be special guests at a District 16 DEC meeting at Eleanor W. Graham School in Rexton Tuesday evening. On Wednesday all seven teachers from Holland will be visiting and learning from students and teachers in District 15. Then District 16 will host a major workshop on Social Media Thursday, October 27 for the Dutch teachers and their Canadian hosts. This visit is just one of numerous ongoing collaborations that have been taking place between District 16 and various schools in the Netherlands since 2003. This visit follows the return just one week ago of 15 students representing Miramichi Valley and James M. Hill High Schools, from an exchange with St. Canisius School in Almelo, Holland.
