Anglophone North School District will be providing opportunities this spring for students at all grade levels to display and share their work and interests in science, math engineering and technology. For students in elementary school there will be a STEM Fair from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Gretna Green Elementary School in Miramichi on Thursday March 20th. This non-competitive showcase promotes “hands-on learning” in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Students will have an opportunity to talk to mentors about their project with the goal of developing their scientific thinking. The district will be organizing two science fairs this spring for middle and high school students. In the morning of Thursday March 27th, James M. Hill High in Miramichi will be hosting the event for schools in Tabusintac, Rexton, Miramichi and Blackville areas. In the morning of Tuesday April 1st Jacquet River Middle School will be the venue for entries from schools in the Bathurst, Dalhousie and Campbellton areas as well as Jacquet River. At these events there will be four categories: 1) Biotechnology, Heath and Life Sciences, 2) Computing and Engineering, 3) Earth and Environmental Sciences, and 4) Physical and Mathematical Science at three levels: Junior (grades 6 to 8), Intermediate (grades 9 and 10) and Senior (grades 11 and 12). This is an opportunity for students to share their work and interests with fellow students, teachers, parents and members of the wider community. A number of entries will be selected to participate in the New Brunswick Regional Science Fair later in the spring. See attached poster below which includes links to entry forms.
