On Friday, February 15th, the Grade 6H class at Nelson Rural School hosted a Flag Day Ceremony for students, teachers and guests. Students presented readings to explain why we have Flag Day. Several songs celebrating Canada were performed throughout the concert in both official languages.
On hand for the ceremony was Member of Parliament, Pat Finnigan and Member of the Legislative Assembly, Michelle Conroy. They were very impressed and left Nelson Rural School with a feeling of pride knowing that the Nelson Rural students understand how lucky they are to live in this great nation. Flags were waving throughout the ceremony. It was a great way for Nelson Rural students and teachers to celebrate being Canadian and to kick off the Family Day weekend.
