For the past two years Miramichi Valley High School has offered a Community Connections class. This class focuses on supporting and promoting Special Olympics (SO) programs and building authentic relationships with students who have intellectual disabilities. This has not only helped us build empathy but has also encouraged us to become more active volunteers.
The workshops included in this summit will showcase Unified Basketball, offer tips for accessing funding, we will share our journey, explore how this type of project can be implemented in other classes, and give an introduction into Special Olympics new FUNdamentals program.
The MVHS Personalization and Community Inclusion Summit is happening on February 20th, 2020 from 10am-4pm.
