North and South Esk Elementary student Avery Hiemstra has just been awarded first place in the 'Junior Essay' category of The Royal Canadian Legion’s National Literary Contest. Avery was recognized for her writing proficiency and her ability to clearly evoke a strong sense of Remembrance in her work in a congratulatory letter from Dominion President Thomas Irvine, sent on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Earlier this week, Ahna Holmes, a grade six student at NSEE in Miramichi, captured 3rd place in the Royal Canadian Legion’s National Poster Contest for her Remembrance Day drawing. Her entry won 3rd place in the ‘Junior Black and White Poster’ category, and was recognized for clearly depicting what Remembrance meant to Ahna. Ahna was notified of this achievement via a letter from Dominion President Thomas Irvine, on behalf of The Royal Canadian Legion.
ASD-N is very proud of both students and their achievements - well done!
