Once again the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) in association with NBCC Miramichi, Sunny Corner Enterprises and the Historic Water Street Business District have made a generous contribution to the District 16 School Healthy Kids Breakfast Program. Funds raised through the annual APEGNB Pumpkin Fling, held this year on September 24 at Waterford Green in Miramichi Chatham amounted to $2059. It is estimated that more than $30,000 has been raised by the community for the program in the past 20 years."It is a very worthwhile program. We are proud and honoured to be associated with it,” says Wade Hallihan, Manager of Historic Water Street.Kevin Gallant, P.Eng., APEGNB member and community champion says, "From the outset, as organizers of the Pumpkin Fling, APEGNB’s Northwestern Branch wanted all money raised to be donated to a worthy local charitable organization. We are very happy to contribute to the success of the Breakfast Program.”The APEGNB Pumpkin Fling events included pumpkin painting, pumpkin carving, gourd decoration face painting, a pumpkin roller coaster, Rotary Chili cook-off, Captain Dan's $5 boat rides, pony rides, vendors, pumpkin croquet and of course the main attraction: the pumpkin blast. The APEGNB Pumpkin Fling organizers expressed appreciation to community-minded businesses such as the City of Miramichi Recreation Department, Anne Bracken Formal, Lockerbie Farms, Captain Dan Boat tours, Rodd Inns and Suites, All Decked-Out, Tozer's Insurance, Canadian Dollar Store, BMO, Station Wharf Marina, and Country Charm Bakery for their support.
