The 7th annual MANGO Go for 42 Challenge for 2013 wrapped up this past Sunday with over 300 students from 19 schools taking part in a fun-run through the streets of Newcastle-Miramichi. The number of runners was the largest turn-out yet for this yearly event held to promote an active and healthy lifestyle. Many of the young runners were supported by family members who also covered the two kilometer course walking, running and in some instances, being pushed in strollers. Participants came from schools in Rexton, Eel Ground, Sunny Corner, Blackville, Millerton, Tabusintac, Hardwick and Miramichi. Winning the Miramichi Association of Police Professionals trophy for the greatest number of participants (per capita) was Gretna Green Elementary School, pictured here. Support for this event was received from the organizers of the annual Rock ‘n Run road race held in Miramichi earlier in the day, without which, holding it would not be possible. Other essential partners were the City of Miramichi Police Force, MANGO™ and Anglophone North School District. For photos visit Go for 42 Fun Run 2013 .
