Anglophone North School District recently presented the Celebrate the Spirit Awards to four recipients at the Parent School Support Committee (PSSC) Appreciation Dinner held in Bathurst. The award is given to recognize groups or individuals who have contributed “above and beyond” to our district and, by virtue of their mere presence in our schools, have enhanced the positive and enthusiastic culture the makes ASD-N a great place to educate children. The award, a beautiful glass sculpture, is given in memory of Beth Lord, a much loved Bathurst area music teacher, who lost her life in a tragic highway accident in 2008. This year’s recipients are:Mr. Ben Gaudet; for sharing his gift of music with his community and with students in the Campbellton area, as well as his commitment during the last thirty years in establishing a concert band at Sugarloaf Senior High School and devoting many hours to practices and repairing instruments. The Blackville Home and School Association; for its outstanding leadership, its presence in the school community, its tireless efforts in fundraising and for its support for the goals and dreams of Blackville School.Mr. Dan Scully; principal at Eleanor Graham Middle School in Rexton, for his long-time support for students, teachers and a variety of programs at Harcourt Elementary School. The Rotary Club of Bathurst; for their continuing support for literacy in the Bathurst area through their efforts to ensure the availability of books in schools and school libraries. The PSSC Appreciation Dinner is held annually to recognize and thank individual members of the support committees that exist in each of the districts school. To
