Hair was flying at Croft Elementary on Thursday, September 27th 2012 in remembrance of Terry Fox!  Alexa Matchett, a grade 5 Croft student, had her ponytail donated to help make a wig for cancer patients.  Mrs Robichaud also donated her ponytail which was cut-off by student Rebecca Hare.  Tickets were sold to students for $1 each for a chance to cut-off the teacher’s ponytail.  In total the hair cutting event raised $143 for the Terry Fox Foundation.  A special thanks goes out to Glamour’s Tara Drisdale for volunteering her services during the event and of course to our brave student Alexa Mat

Anglophone North School District  (Formerly School Districts 15 & 16) - Registration for children entering Kindergarten in September 2013 will be held from October 9-12, 2012 at your local school.Kindergarten registration is for children who will turn five by December 31,2013. Medicare Card and/or Birth Certificate and Proof of Immunization are required at time of registration. Please contact the Office of the Superintendent for Anglophone North School

Metepenagiag First Nation’s Heritage Park on the beautiful Northwest Miramichi River was the location for a Thanksgiving Dinner for 35 international students presently attending schools in Anglophone North School District (ANSD) on September 27th. Students from Germany, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and China along with their host families enjoyed a traditional turkey dinner prepared by Heritage Park staff.

As part of the province-wide anti-bullying week program, an informative message was delivered September 25th to three high schools in Anglophone North School District by Travis Price. Mr. Price of Coldbrook, Nova Scotia, is the originator of Pink Shirt Day, a movement that has taken on a life of its own that started when he and a friend wore pink shirts to school in support of another student who had been bullied for wearing pink.

Anglophone North School District is pleased to welcome four educators from Holland who are in New Brunswick on a study trip this week to learn about education in Canada. Their main interest is at the primary/elementary school levels and they are visiting schools and classrooms in Miramichi, Metepenagiag, Bathurst, Dalhousie Campbellton and Rexton. All are experienced teachers and are welcoming the opportunity to talk to New Brunswick teachers and school administrators to compare education systems and find out about approaches to teaching that may be useful to them in Holland.

A number of middle schools and high schools in Anglophone North School District offered orientation programs for students starting in their schools for the first time on September 5th. The purposes of the programs (WEB - M.S. and Boomerang - H.S.) were to let new students gain familiarity with their new schools, meet their teachers, particpate in "ice breaking"
