Let's give some applause to the paws! Waterview Animal Hospital in Miramichi recently held its First Annual School Supply Drive during the month of August, and donated nearly $600 in school supplies to the Anglophone North School District.

Throughout August, Waterview Animal Hospital offered free nail trims to pets when their owners donated a school supply item. The hospital also donated all cash payments from their regular clients' nail trims, and then used that cash to purchase additional school supplies for the drive.

From Tide Head to Rexton, well over 1500 Grade 3-5 students from across ASD-N participated in a series of three district wide track and field events.

ASD-N Miramichi/Rexton area schools celebrated their Turnaround Achievement Award evening on June 12th at the Rodd Miramichi, where 23 students were honoured for their perserverance. A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Chatham, the Beaubear Credit Union, and the Cartier Foundation in Richibucto for sponsoring the evening as well as the Rodd for their support and professionalism.

Due to the weather forecast, the Gr. 3-5 Track & Field Event at JMH that was scheduled for today, June 18, will be postponed  

Today’s event will be moved to Wednesday, June 20.

 All plans for tomorrow’s Track & Field Day remain unchanged.

The BLMS track and field team won their 13th consecutive NBIAA AA Provincial Championship on Saturday, June 2nd. Their top performers were Cole Augustine who won gold in the Junior boys 100m hurdles and bronze in the 300m hurdles. Michael Mitton won silver in both the senior boys 110m and 400m hurdles, a bronze in the 800m and a bronze in the 4x400m relay along with teammates Parker Campbell, Chayson Levi and Josh Wylie who also won a bronze in the 400m hurdles. Sabreigh Fletcher took home a silver in the senior girls high jump and a bronze in discus.

In collaboration with local First Nation communities, ASD-N hosted 3 multi school Mawi’omis (Mi’kmaq word for gathering) in three locations this past week. Tuesday, May 29 at Bathurst High School with all schools in the Bathurst area attending. Thursday, May 31 was an outdoor event at the beautiful Aboriginal Heritage Garden in Eel River Bar First Nation for all the schools in the Dalhousie region.

The Turnaround Awards Banquet for the Chaleur Area Schools in Anglophone North School District was held on June 5th at the Atlantic Host in which six recipients were recognized.
