Anglophone North elementary schools had the opportunity on June 1st to participate in the districts 3rd annual elementary drama festival.
Three schools participated this year. Gretna Green School put on the play “Aladdin”, directed by Krista Bransfield. Napan Elementary’s play was “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” and was under the direction of Cheryl Carroll. Nelson Rural’s play was under the direction of Mary O’Neill-Delano and their play was “What a Knight”

The newly built Max Aitken Academy hosted 100 Years of Loss from April 3-14, which is a mobile exhibit that travels across the nation to build awareness and educate people about the Indian Residential School experience and it impacts on Indigenous Peoples and communities to this day.
On Saturday, April 22nd, Jacquet River School hosted the annual ASD-N French Oratorical Competition. There were a total of 29 middle school and high school competitors from the Early and Late Immersion programs as well as from the Post-Intensive French program. All of the speeches were well done and the judges were impressed with the high level of French and wide variety of topics.
The ASD-N STEM team would like to invite you to attend the 2nd Annual STEMfest 2017 “At The Carnival”. This exciting event will be taking place from 10am-3:30pm on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at James M Hill High School. STEMfest 2017 promises to be a fun-filled day of learning for K-12 students, parents, and educators from Anglophone North School District. Students, teachers and parents will be using cardboard-based materials to design, build and then play carnival inspired games. Three students who are part of an Enrichment Initiative at Sugarloaf Senior High School placed 3rd in the 2017 Worksafe NB Video Contest. Grade 12 students Jessie Boekelder and Samuel Farrar-Cranton and Logan Geraghty who is Grade 11 had the unique opportunity to produce, direct and star in videos over the course of the semester. They were chosen for this Initiative due to their exceptional talent and interest in video and audio. They took on this challenge and produced a high quality video. They continue to produce other videos. Sugarloaf is extreamly proud of these three students.
ASD-N is seeking applicants for day-to-day supply teaching positions. Both certified teachers and local permits will be considered. Local permits should have a minimum requirement of four years post-secondary education. However, candidates with less education will be considered and are welcome to apply. On March 25, students participated in the ASD-N North Shore Regional STEM Fair held at Terry Fox Elementary School. Students had a chance to present their projects to a group of judges from the community. Students also took part in hands-on STEM sessions focused on robotics, programming and making.
The 2017 Anglophone North School District Chess Tournament was held at Rexton Elementary School on Saturday, March 18th and once again proved to be a very successful event. There were 48 students registered in the tournament this year representing 14 different District schools.
