As per Minister Dominic Cardy's memo, effective Monday, March 16, 2020 all schools across the province will be closed for two weeks. This decision was made by the all-party cabinet committee in response to COVID-19. This closure will be reassessed on an ongoing basis.
Please note that the ASD-N French Second Language parent information meeting that was scheduled for this evening at Terry Fox Elementary School has been cancelled.

On Friday, February 14th the Grade 6 students at Nelson Rural School hosted our annual Flag Day ceremony in front of students, teachers, parents and a panel of local politicians. On hand for the ceremony was MP- Pat Finnigan, MLA- Lisa Harris, MLA- Michelle Conroy, Leader of the NB Liberal Party- Kevin Vickers and our Mayor- Adam Lordon. Students sang “O Canada” and recited the “Pledge to the Flag” in both official languages. Flags were waving as students presented readings, gave musical performances, and presented a little comedy act for the audience.
For the past two years Miramichi Valley High School has offered a Community Connections class. This class focuses on supporting and promoting Special Olympics (SO) programs and building authentic relationships with students who have intellectual disabilities. This has not only helped us build empathy but has also encouraged us to become more active volunteers.
We are very pleased to announce the launch of our first ever ASD-N Winter Challenge 2020. During the period of February 18-28, 2020, all district schools are encouraged to take part in exciting outdoor activities involving students and staff. This may involve tobogganing, sliding, snowshoe races, skiing, snowman/snow sculpture building, skating, curling, geocaching, fat tire biking, modified biathlon, winter carnival challenges, winter scavenger hunt, create your own sled, etc. Simply put, we would love to see our staff and students being active outdoors!
The Superior Middle School Blazer Bots are competing in the FIRST LEGO League Robotics Competition at Acadia University Saturday, Feb. 15. There are 6 teams from NB that qualified for the event and are heading to the competition.
