Anglophone North School District will be celebrating our community partnerships and academic excellence in preparation for our upcoming student tour of Normandy, to walk in the footsteps of the North Shore Regiment. The event will be taking place at the James M. Hill Memorial High School Auditorium on Tuesday, May 14th at 6:30 p.m.

North and South Esk Elementary recently installed Sensory Floor Paths at their school. What is a sensory path? Students are able to release energy and tension by traveling through a series of physical movements like hopping, skipping, balancing, jumping and stretching while improving their ability to learn. These activities will help our students deal with anxiety or over stimulation and can even engage them in literacy and numeracy at the same time! The kids at NSEE school love it!

Nelson Rural grade 7 and 8 students have been working with ArtsSmarts musician and songwriter Stephen Lewis, from Fredericton NB. Over the past two months students have studied and written spoken word poetry/hip hop songs to accompany the musical compositions they created using keyboards and loop pedals. This WCAMS episode was recorded during the students final showcase of their written word, musical compositions and their overall collaboration.

Saturday was an exciting day in Campbellton, as Lord Beaverbrook Elementary played host to the ASD-N District Chess Tournament for North Shore area schools. It was the first time having the District tourney take place in Campbellton and the event proved to be a great success.

Students from Grades 3-8 turned out in large numbers for hours of intense, strategic chess action. At the end of the day, top finishers were identified to represent ASD-N at the upcoming Provincial Chess Tournament taking place at Millidgeville North School in Saint John on April 13th.

Renous, New Brunswick was announced as one of the Top 4 Finalists in the bid for Kraft Hockeyville 2019 on March 16th, 2019.  Each finalist will receive a $25,000.00 prize, but the organizing committee has its sites set on the top prize of $250,000.00 in upgrades for the Tom Donovan Arena. The grand prize also includes hosting an NHL game.

Rexton Elementary School was abuzz with plenty of action on Saturday, March 16th as students from the Miramichi and Rexton area schools took part in the first of two District Chess Tournaments taking place this year. The Northern region event will be hosted at Lord Beaverbrook School in Campbellton on Saturday, March 23rd.
